Children's glasses

Glasses for a child have to fit, last the school year and feel good enough to keep on. Christy fits every pair and adjusts it while you wait when she can.

What we fit

  • Frames for small faces, in plastic and metal

  • Lenses made to your child's prescription

  • Adjustments and repairs after the first fitting

How we fit glasses for a child

  • Fit

Frames sit on the nose and ears without slipping, pinching or leaving red marks.

  • Lenses

Impact-resistant lenses and a scratch-resistant coating are worth asking about. Dr. Alaniz says what your child needs.

  • Durability

Flexible frames and spring hinges handle a backpack better. We adjust glasses that get bent.

A frame try-on visit

  • 01

    Pick a few shapes

Your child tries on frames while you watch, and we narrow them down together.

  • 02

    Check the fit

We look at how each pair sits when your child looks up, down and sideways.

  • 03

    Order and pick up

We call you when the glasses are ready, and fit them again at pickup.

  • 04

Come back in a few weeks

A quick adjustment after a few weeks of school keeps them comfortable.

Questions about glasses

How often does a child need new glasses?

A child's prescription can change as they grow. We check at each yearly exam and tell you if new lenses are needed.

Can my child wear glasses for sports?

Ask about sports frames and protective eyewear. Dr. Alaniz can write a prescription for them.
